Huddle Upgrades Android Mobile Application to Meet Growing Enterprise Demand

30 September 2015

SAN FRANCISCO and LONDON – September 30, 2015 – Huddle, the leader in secure collaboration tools for enterprise and government, today announced an updated Android productivity app to meet increasing demand as Android gains momentum in the enterprise. Designed around collaboration instead of file sharing, Huddle for Android provides users with a secure way to work with teams, partners and customers right from their Android device. The latest updates make it even easier to work from anywhere, anytime.

While iOS has long been the leader in the enterprise, the growing popularity of Android has necessitated a more comprehensive approach to the creation of enterprise applications. In response, Huddle, which has seen an impressive 50 percent month on month increase in active Android users since March 2015, has updated the app with a number of new features designed to make mobile collaboration easier than ever.

The app provides mobile users with a simple and secure way to collaborate on content and manage projects while on the move. The latest updates include the ability to:

  • Preview files: Reliance on bulkier hardware such as laptops is reduced through the file preview feature which allow files to be previewed directly in the app, negating the need for third party apps or having to download potentially large files onto the mobile device.
  • Review file details: Version control is enhanced through access to the latest information about a file, such as when was it updated and by whom.
  • Access files offline: The impact of poor connectivity is reduced, as previously accessed documents will be available to preview whilst the user is working offline.
  • Comment: Users can improve mobile productivity by reading the latest comments on a file, and providing feedback directly from the app in real time.

“The increasing penetration of Android in the enterprise and the rise of the digital workplace have created a perfect storm for Android apps,” said Stuart Cochran, CTO of Huddle. “In fact, we’ve seen a significant increase in downloads of Huddle for Android in the last quarter alone. We are constantly looking for ways to evolve the Huddle experience for mobile users, and the updates to Huddle for Android achieve just this, making it possible for users to accomplish tasks they would otherwise need to do at their desk, right from their mobile device.”

Security is an important part of Huddle’s DNA, built into every product from the desktop to the Web and mobile apps. As a result, governments and regulated industries worldwide trust Huddle to protect their sensitive data. Because Huddle provides granular controls and comprehensive audit trails, enterprise and government organizations worldwide feel confident using the cloud collaboration service to securely store, access, share, sync and work on files with everyone they need to - regardless of whether they are inside or outside of an organization's firewall.
